Single Volunteer

At Assisi Hospice, we recognise the valuable role our volunteers play. Your service is a labor of love that goes a long way to support our mission to provide quality palliative care to patients and their families.

Individual Volunteer

We are looking for individuals with a few hours to spare, a passion to volunteer and a heart to serve and support our patients and their families. There are many ways you can get involved to help create real and last changes in the lives of our patients; if you think you’ve got what it takes to be a volunteer, we invite you to join us!

Types of Volunteers
  • 17 years and above
  • 2 hours per week, 3 months
  • Limited patient care
  • Assist mainly at Day Care Centre, Home Care service & administration
  • Half day training
No One Dies Alone (NODA)
  • 30 years and above
  • VC experience of at least 3 consecutive months
  • Commitment of at least 12 months
  • Must have completed VC training
  • Additional half-day training
Volunteer Carer
  • 18 years and above
  • 4 hours per week, 6 months
  • Direct patient care
  • Assist at Day Care Centre, Home Care, wards & administration
  • Full day training
Volunteer Mentor
  • Volunteer/Volunteer Carer for at least 12 months
  • Mentor new volunteers and volunteer groups
  • Available on weekdays and weekends
  • Must have completed half-day / full day training
Volunteers with Special Skills
  • Professionals in their respective fields (i.e. photographers, lawyers, doctors, nurses, manicurist, hairdresser)
  • 3 hours per week, 6 months
  • Assist at both Day Care Centre, Home Care service, wards & administration
  • Half-day training
Project-based Volunteer
  • Project based
  • Minimum 4 hours per day
  • Duties include administration, logistics, fundraising, ushering

How You Can Help
Day Care Centre
  • Operational Hours: Weekdays, excluding public holidays
  • Service Hours: 7.45am to 10.30 | 9.30am to 3.15pm | 2.45pm to 5.30pm
  • Duties include: Van escort duty, escort ambulant patients to the toilet, pantry duties, accompany patients to the garden, assist the physiotherapists, accompany patients on outings
Home Care
  • Operational Hours: 24 hours daily, including public holidays
  • Service Hours: Ad-hoc basis, *subjected to requests from HC clinical team
  • Duties include: Escort patients to TCU, pick up medication, house cleaning, befriending, personal grooming, meal delivery
Inpatient Wards
  • Operational Hours: 24 hours daily, including public holidays
  • Service Hours: 8am to 10am l 11am to 1pm l 5pm to 7pm l 7.30pm to 9.30pm
  • Duties include: Direct patient care (sponging, transfer & turning of patients, diaper changing, oral care, feeding), befriending, meal services, wheeling patients to the garden, answering of call bells, sitting with restless patients
  • Operational Hours: weekdays, excluding public holidays
  • Service Hours: Office hours, occasionally after office hours
  • Duties include: Administration such as data entry, making of phone calls, folding of letters, sorting of tickets, ticket sales for annual fundraising events, usher duties at IFMS, pre/actual post
