Assisi Hospice also arranged for 11 patients from its Day Care Centre to visit a florist to purchase Lunar New Year flowers. For 87-year-old day care patient Mdm Yeo, who had not visited a flower market since falling ill, the outing brought her great joy. She shared, “It makes me very happy to come out and look at the flowers. Lunar New Year only comes once a year — it’s lively and joyful. As long as there’s the festive New Year atmosphere, that’s what matters.”

Ms Sheena Low, Manager of Allied Health and Day Care at Assisi Hospice, said, “Simply stepping out of a medical environment brings them a different kind of joy. Being able to come here and experience the New Year atmosphere also reminds them that even when facing serious illness, life can still remain colourful and meaningful.”

Each participating patient also received $35, generously donated by a kind donor, to purchase New Year flowers.
